Oops!

Ok so the 30 days are almost up for this latest round of Whole30 and I have yet to post anything! I am sorry! Things got so hectic with workout schedules and then the craziness of the actual games WOD’s, and keeping up with meal prep and cooking….I know I know I am preaching to the choir, but those are my excuses. I do apologize and to all those experiencing Whole30 right now for the first or twenty first time keep up the good work and stay strong!

How I survived this 30!

I am always on the quest for new recipes and always trying to change up our meal list so when this Whole30 started I made it a point to get new ideas into the rotation. I found myself going to the Chowstalker site and using that site for most of my new menu items this round!

What is great about Chowstalker is they have done the stalking for you! They have gone out to other site and blogs and compiled in one place, organized by category and type, TONS of recipes. The recipes are on the Chowstalker site for easy browsing (or stalking...) and then when you click on the link you get linked back to the original recipe location.

They even have a Whole30 section which is where I spent some time over the last month.

I will put the links to some new recipes that I used recently below, but I credit Chowstalker with finding these and then putting them in an easy place to reference and use. My links will be back to the original site where the recipes came from, but you really should check out the Chowstalker site! They made it so easy and the categories and pictures are great!

Chicken Lo Mein

Sun Dried Tomato Chicken Bake

Cilantro Lime chicken and Zucchini

Thai “peanut” sauce

Zucchini patties and turkey burger

Beef and Broccoli Sesame Slaw

To treat or not to treat.

And if all that I said already about Chowstalker wasn’t awesome enough they recently started another site called Dessertstalker!

I like the approach they took with this and they say it perfectly in their “about” section so follow the link and read it for yourself.

I agree with their approach here and while they aren’t saying a hard and fast no to “paleo treats” they aren't saying a loud and clear yes either. They are simply saying to make sure they have a time and a place. I think that taking a hard and fast line to never having a treat or a cheat isn’t realistic. I do think that if you can make your treat or cheat a better option by going gluten free or preparing it yourself with good ingredients it does make it better then say a Costco sheet cake! And if a little paleo version of a cake or cookie or muffin keeps you from eating an entire bag of babyruth (not that I have any experience with this whatsoever! ;-)) then by all means browse Dessertstalker and make a little treat now and again!

Stay tuned!

Coming up next a Q/A with a co worker who recently took on the whole30 challenge, the adjustments he made to make it sustainable for him, and his thoughts on eating clean. I think this will be interesting because this person isn’t a "crossfit'er" and so many posts and articles are by "crossfit'ers" we sometimes lose some perspective and thoughts from others out there enjoying the lifestyle!
